# OpenRarity

Sites/Apps that publish collection rarity rankings have their own algorithms that calculate rarity based on the supply count of different attributes and the frequency of which they are paired together. Therefore, rarity will vary based on how each site weights various components in their rarity calculation.

Ultimately rarity-based demand is up to collectors, but the team will use the Open Rarity protocol for how we view “official” rarity. No rarity framework is perfect, and collectors may weight things differently. We are choosing OpenRarity because of its open-source nature and because it is natively available on the largest marketplace, Opensea.
